Seeking balance in The Tech
In this issue of The Tech, youâll find coverage of marches that took place over the weekend, protesting the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump. The perspectives shared through these articles are largely Democratic, largely liberal. We, The Tech, have consistently attempted to provide balanced coverage of political events at MIT, reaching out to conservative students and groups on campus. However, we have not been able to get a Republican to go on the record due to fears of personal, academic, and professional repercussions.

Itâs all fun and games... unless youâre George and Martha
The script has held up well. With its raunchy humor and intensely flawed characters, Virginia Woolf? is reminiscent of modern television dramedies like Youâre the Worst. Dysfunctional families and tragic marriages seem like modern staples, but for a play performed in the 1960s, it generated controversy for its language and portrayal of such flawed, unlikeable characters.
Hidden Figures has a worthwhile message despite its flaws
Hidden Figures follows the struggle of three African American women working for NASA in the 1960s. Even faced with rampant sexism and racism at work and in society, with dogged perseverance and a firm belief in themselves, they overcome barrier after barrier. Don't worry, that's not a spoiler. That our plucky protagonists will emerge victorious is no surprise in this feel-good dramatization of historical events.
Menâs volleyball off to flying start
Menâs volleyball (4-0) maintained its perfect start to the season after clinching a 5-set thriller against Regis. Martin Krasuki â17 led the team with 18 kills.

A group of my residents were huddled around a window on the 9th floor. With complete sincerity and transparency, one turned to me and said, âWe froze a water balloon, and we think itâd be cool to throw it out the window!â
